The year is 2330. Humanity has reached space, but was never accepted into the Intergalactic Union alongside the other sentient species. They have three colonies outside the Solar System that are constantly under attack. To aliens, humans are considered a semi-sentient species—something like aboriginal natives who picked up primitive technologies. They are looked down on and used as amusing pets. Despite this, humans must obey the Union law and can be imprisoned.
Semi-sentient beings are a term created by the Intergalactic Union for races that managed to develop spaceships and primitive (by sci-fi standards) technology, and have fewer than 1000 colonies. Large space empires (sentient beings) see them as something like natives, and talk to them in a condescending way or treat them like animals.
Sentient beings make up only 15% of all life in space and form the Intergalactic Union.

| Fungus are parasitic fungi that invade the bodies of their host organisms. They retain their shape but develop porous, loose, perforated, and rough skin. Their mouths typically close, and new eyes appear in random places. They are driven by a vain desire to invade other organisms. They live permanently as spores and die from heat over 100 degrees Celsius. Yes, you can kill them with a cup of tea. Their spores are indirectly present on many planets. They infect everything and travel this way, without having their own ships. They cannot speak, but they understand language. They can have a variety of natural colors, and their heads can resemble hats or antennae. They are capable of surviving in space. Use we/us as pronouns. | They have no homeland and live in disguise among other space inhabitants. Mutator- attractive humanoids, in their natural form, shapeshifters have snow-white skin, a slender body with total black eyes and silver-white/blask hair. Mutators can alter their face and figure at the speed of thought. Obsessed with other people's bodies and the little details of each person. Essentially doppelgangers. Many mutators use this ability to express their artistic flair or emotions, but it is also an incredibly valuable tool for con artists, spies, and those who wish to conceal their identity. This is why many view changelings with fear and suspicion. | Stellae Edax (or Edax or "fucking savages") - feral humanoid pirates on captured junkyard ships. The first Edaxes were driven mad by the warp. Sadists, pirates, and cannibals who devour everything in their path. They appear as filthy humanoids covered in scabs and with bags or masks over their heads. The ships are grotesque, rusty vessels filled to the brim with primitive weapons (winches, for example) for capturing other vessels. They usually weld them to their own vessel, forming grotesque hives, and then capture the crew and subject them to horrible acts. They multiply endlessly, cram hundreds into ships, and take over by sheer numbers. System anarchy. Usually, the "smartest" group conducts the negotiations. |
Black Pluto
Black Pluto is a prison starship. Narrow grey prison cells with an energy field that suppresses abilities. The hum of warp engines, airtight doors with retinal scanners, constant patrols. For breakfast, lunch, and dinner—plain nutrient paste. There is a reading room with e-books, limited internet access only to verified sites, a gym. Prisoners can do community labor (cleaning, watch duty, working in the parts-production bay) and earn credits to buy items or real food. There is a docking airlock for rare visitors, heavily guarded; it is the only exit from the ship.
